Tell me a STORY: Cedric Gervais and Tiësto at Story Nightclub, December 30th

Tell me a STORY: Cedric Gervais and Tiësto at Story Nightclub Miami: December 30, 2012

The swanky new Story Nightclub opened its doors on Sunday to the legendary DJ Tiësto and French sensation Cedric Gervais. The event was part of an epic weeklong lineup to launch the club’s opening, which included EDM’s heaviest hitters: Steve Angello, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Avicii, Kaskade, and Deadmau5. Lucky for you, Chubby Beavers has you covered with a review of the night’s insanity.

It was easy to spot Cedric as we walked into Story past a bevy of French doormen and chic European partygoers. The DJ was cast in a fluorescent red light, and he soon appeared godlike as bright white lights flashed on him from below.

Cedric opened his set with his signature tech house beats that were amplified by a pounding bass. His dance savvy sound was complemented by Story’s cutting edge, futuristic design. Strands of glowing lights hung from the ceiling and modern swirly fixtures flanked the walls, while sleek U-shaped tables lined the second floor. A colorful laser lightshow and a handful of LED screens enhanced the décor for an exhilarating experience.

Cedric kept the crowd moving with energizing electro tracks, including: “Who” by Tujamo & Plastik Funk, “Breaking Up” by Chuckie & Promise Land (Bartosz Brenes & Tony Romera Remix) and his most famous track, “Molly.” Guests also sang along to the 2008 disco track: “Put ’em High” by Stonebridge feat. Therese. Overall, Cedric’s groovy set started the night off right.

Soon enough, the no. 2 DJ in the world took over the decks. Tiësto captivated the crowd with the hottest tracks of right now including: “Apollo” by Hardwell feat. Amba Shepard, “Don’t You Worry Child” by Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin and “Redline” by Wolfgang Gartner. He also paid homage to Zedd, blasting “Clarity,” “Spectrum” and “Fall Into the Sky” feat. Ellie Goulding. Fists pumped even harder when Tiesto’s own “Hell Yea” with Showtek and “Pair of Dice” with Allure hit the speakers. But the track highlight of the night was “Midnight Diamonds” by Rihanna vs. M83 (New Puzzle vs. Eric Prydz Mashup). Rihanna’s smooth vocals enhance the catchy M83 track for a fun and danceable tune.

As I waved my rainbow foam sticks in the air, I didn’t want the night to end. But I soon left feeling excited. I can’t wait to see what these two superstars have in store for 2013!
